Hampton Inn Houma Recieves Two Spirirt Of Pride Awards!
Released: 3/1/2006
By: Matt Markopoulos
HOUMA, LA - The Hampton Inn Houma accomplished an unprecedented feat for the Hampton Spirit of Pride award in February. When General manager Brazette Carlos and Maintenance Engineer David Arceneaux both won the award last month, it marked the first time in the history of the award that two people from the same hotel were recognized in the same month. Both outstanding team members were honored for their sacrificial efforts during the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina in Southeast Louisiana. Carlos and Arceneaux were recognized by the staffs as going way above and beyond the normal call of duty in providing for the safety and comfort of their staff members and guests during the storm in late August and September. The center of the storm passed less than forty miles away from the hotel, causing extensive damage to the building. But the Hampton Inn remained open throughout the ordeal, providing safe shelter for hundreds of displaced residents and staff.
Bill Murray, President of Integral Hospitality applauded the recognition by Hilton. “We have always known that Brazette was an exemplary leader, but she showed her true colors during the disaster. She worked tirelessly to keep the hotel running smoothly despite the most trying of circumstances. David kept his focus on the hotel even as he had no knowledge of whether his home was underwater from the storm surge. Both Brazette and David make you proud to be in the hospitality business. ”
